Corporate greed is hurting Saskatchewan workers every day. Big corporations and bad bosses are driving down wages, stealing pay, and dodging basic protections — and they’re getting away with it.
Here’s what the research shows:
Wage theft: Over 5,300 workers have had to fight for $13 million in stolen pay since 2016. Overtime abuse and tip theft are all too common.
Dodging the rules: Many workers are wrongly hired as contractors so bosses can dodge benefits, fair wages, and employment standards.
Precarious work: Workers are often left scrambling with last-minute shift changes or not enough hours to make ends meet. Too many workers fear losing their jobs if they need time off for illness or emergencies.
And on top of that, Saskatchewan is tied for the lowest minimum wage in Canada and provides no paid sick leave — falling behind the rest of the country while families struggle to keep up.
Saskatchewan workers deserve better. It’s time to put people ahead of corporate profits and demand laws that hold bad bosses accountable.
Real penalties for wage & tip theft — including criminal charges for repeat offenders
Fair scheduling and layoff protections
Guaranteed sick leave
Restoration of weekends and a right to disconnect
